"I wrote and recorded a lot of this record looking out of a window at a pond where lots of birds gathered. I had been more interested in the birds I saw while hiking as well. No one needs to teach a bird how to be a bird. Let the music out, put into whatever medium is available. The Trial of Orson and Joey is remarkable for the fact that the lyrics are the exact words that my friend Chris Clark used to relay his wild dream to me with before suggesting I make a song about it. His description via text had the proper mania to it and I wrote the song while singing them."
